Transcendental Realism

The Image-Art of egoless
Coincidence with Reality Itself
by Adi Da Samraj

Transcendental Realism Cover IconThe thirteen essays in Transcendental Realism: The Image-Art of egoless Coincidence with Reality Itself, were written by Adi Da Samraj to accompany the collateral exhibition of His art, "Transcendental Realism: The Art of Adi Da Samraj", at the 52nd Venice Biennale.

In his introduction, Erik van Erp, PhD, describes the book's uniqueness:

This body of words, much like Adi Da's art itself, is a "transformational environment". If you have seen Adi Da's art, and wonder what or who it was that moved you, a careful consideration of this text will serve to integrate the immediacy of the aesthetic experience into a transformed understanding — of Adi Da's art, of art altogether, and of the most profound dimensions of human experience.

Whether through the text of His books or the non-verbal transmission of His image-art, Adi Da Samraj's purpose is always to communicate the Truth of Reality Itself, prior to the presumption of ego and separate "self". In Transcendental Realism, Adi Da communicates the details of His utterly unique artistic process and purposes which are founded in His impulse, as Realizer, to enable Awakening from the illusion of separateness.

In Part 7, "The Unobservable Totality of Light", Adi Da describes the transforming effect of participating in His art:

My image-art can be characterized as paradoxical space that undermines "point of view". That undermining (which occurs in the any instant of fully felt participation in any of the images I make and show) allows for a tacit glimpse, or intuitive sense, of the Transcendental Condition of Reality (even as all conditional appearances, and, Ultimately, As It Is) — always, inherently, and totally beyond and prior to "point of view".

In addition, Adi Da discusses how the tradition of modern art has changed through time, and describes the place His art holds in this tradition.

This 104-page book contains an 8-page color insert with examples of Adi Da's image-art. To see more examples of His art, please visit adidabiennale.org or daplastique.com.
